Ordering repeat prescriptions
How to Order Your Repeat Prescription
We aim to make ordering your repeat prescriptions as simple and convenient as possible. Please follow the steps below to ensure a smooth process.
Ordering Online
You can request your repeat prescriptions online using the NHS App. This service is available 24/7, allowing you to order at your convenience.
- Log in to your account via the NHS App
Navigate to the ‘Repeat Prescriptions’ section.
- Select the medications you need.
- Submit your request.
If you need to order an acute item, you can do this via the NHS app messages section or by visiting the practice. For guidance on how to do this, click here. (can you add the digital support page behind here, I’m hoping to re-write this as well today!)
If you haven’t registered for online services, please contact our reception team for assistance.
Ordering in Person
You can also order your repeat prescription by visiting the practice and filling out a request form at reception. Alternatively, you can drop off the repeat slip from your last prescription or use the prescription post box available at the surgery. The post box is located just inside the front door on the left.
Ordering by Phone
We do not accept prescription requests over the phone. Please use our online service, visit the practice in person, or drop off your repeat slip in the prescription post box.
Processing Time
Please allow 48 hours (excluding weekends and bank holidays) for your prescription to be processed. We accept prescription requests up to 7 days before they are due. Ensure you order in advance to avoid running out of your medication.
Need Help with Your Prescription?
If you have a question about your prescription, you can contact us in three ways:
- NHS App Secure Message – The best way to ask about your prescription. Log in to the NHS App and send us a message. For guidance on how to do this, click here. (can you add the digital support page behind here)
- Call Us – You can phone us if you have a question, but we cannot take prescription requests over the phone.
- Pop into the Surgery and Speak to a Receptionist – Our team will be happy to help with any prescription queries.
If you need more help, please contact reception. We’re happy to assist!
Collecting Your Prescription
Your prescription can be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy for collection. Alternatively, you may pick it up from the practice if required. Some pharmacies also offer a delivery service – please check with your local pharmacy for details.
Medication Reviews
To ensure your continued health and safety, regular medication reviews may be required. If you are due for a review, we will notify you when you request your prescription.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact our team.
Electronic prescription service
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.
What does this mean for you?
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
For further information on:

- Cancelling or changing your choice of pharmacist or dispenser
- What can I do if I’m unhappy with the process?

About Pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room. This allows you to discuss issues without being overheard.
